Body worn camera footage released by the San Francisco Police Department captures the strange and intense moment that Paul Pelosi is attacked by David DePape.

This footage raises more questions about the situation than it answers. Who opened the door? Why is Paul Pelosi holding a cocktail and smiling before he is attacked? Why does the attacker also appear to be smiling?

The situation is so confusing that even the responding officer seems entirely bewildered by the scenario. When Depape attacks, the officer actually hesitates for a full second because he's stunned by what's happening in front of him.
