(NSFW) Oklahoma Domestic Suspect Tries To Draw And Loses

This footage, provided by the Oklahoma City Police Department, is a compilation of home security and police officer bodycam video. It shows their officers responding to a shots fired call. The suspect tries to draw a pistol despite being at clear disadvantage, and is shot and killed. Viewer discretion is advised.

The OKC police were initially dispatched to a domestic dispute, and during their response, shots were reported fired. The security camera footage shows a clearly irate Kenneth Allsen, 46 years of age, with an AR-style rifle, which he fires at 0:05. Having put the rifle away, Allsen makes contact with the police at 0:33, and tells them to "put it up", either in reference to the officer's TASER or his partner's lethal cover. He turns away from the officers, refusing to comply with their commands.

Although we can hear dialogue from the police telling him "not to reach for it" and gunshots are fired, it is difficult to discern what happened from the security feed. However, accompanying bodycam footage shows that at 01:34, Allsen reaches for a holstered pistol and is shot four times while a TASER deploys. He was pronounced dead on-scene.

I'm going to be blunt, here, because as a parent this infuriates me. Allsen reached for his weapon with all the urgency of a man reaching for his wallet at Waffle House, and even if he was good, he had little chance of beating an AR that's already up and facing the right direction. His lack of effort proves that he can't have thought otherwise, and the selfishness of that decision is underlined by a child's scream and the toy packaging by the trash can. His kid or not, that's a child that has to live with the consequences of his actions.
