New York Attorney General Letitia James released body camera footage from an incident showing the moments Syracuse police officers fatally shot a female subject who charged them with a large knife.

On October 20th, 2021, officers from the Syracuse Police Department in Upstate New York responded to a home located on Ulster Street, after receiving 9-1-1 calls of a woman, later identified as 33-year-old Allison Lakie, brandishing a large knife at people. The body camera footage provided shows crisis response officers entering Lakie's home and attempting to safely remove her from her now burning house.

During the intense confrontation, officers attempted to utilize at least three tasers to subdue Lakie; however all were deemed ineffective. After nearly eighteen minutes, firefighters began extinguishing the fire Lakie started, where she became deranged and charged at the officers with a large knife. In response, officers utilized lethal force, striking Lakie and ultimately fatally wounding her.

Officers immediately began rendering medical aid to Lakie; however her gun inflicted injuries proved fatal. No officers or additional personnel on scene were injured during this incident.
