This compilation of NYPD bodycam footage from a lead officer and his partner records an incident wherein the suspect, 38-year-old Courtney Gordon, abruptly stabs them and is immediately shot by Officer Decio, who was stabbed on the left side of the neck. His partner was stabbed in the temple. While this video presents a “teachable moment” insofar as knowing and maintaining distance, the details surrounding this incident are sinister. Viewer discretion is advised.

The reason Gordon was able to stab the officers calmly and accurately is because he had time to warm up. I do not typically use inflammatory titles for these videos, but in this case, it has been well earned. Further investigation revealed that inside the home outside of which the suspect is seen standing, Gordon had stabbed five members of his own family , two of which were children no older than twelve. One of them died. A middle-aged male and female were also killed, with a 61-year old female survivor being treated for multiple, severe, stab wounds. The family had apparently taken Gordon in in lieu of being homeless, and for unknown specific reasons, he opted to kill them all.
