A Ventura County deputy opened fire on a suspected catalytic converter thief when the suspect ran from the traffic stop and then narrowly missed the officer with his vehicle. Shortly after resuming the vehicular pursuit, the officer accidentally smashed into a parked car and lost the suspect.

The incident reportedly took place on Mar. 19, 2022 in Thousand Oaks. The vehicle was later recovered, which turned out to be stolen. It's not clear if any of the suspects were hit by gunfire during the officer involved shooting.
