Ukrainian Mi24 Helicopter Shot Down

The footage offers a unique overhead view of a Ukrainian helicopter being shot out of the sky. Two Mi24 Hind helicopters are flying in formation and are targeted by surface to air missiles. They fire flares but the first helicopter is hit and crashes. The second helicopter manages to evade the SAMs and leaves the area. The first helicopter lays in a heap of burning wreckage, a funeral pyre for its crew. The Mi24 is a Soviet-designed, heavily armored gunship which can also carry a small infantry squad. The platform remains in use by both sides in the conflict, and it is also in service with many countries around the world. Last year Poland transferred several Mi24 Hinds to Ukraine, which were replaced with Apache gunships purchased from the United States.
