The 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade was activated on December 8, 2014 in the city of Haisyn. They are well known as one of the most competent motorized infantry regiments in the Ukrainian armed forces, having initially cut their teeth in Donbas against separatist Russian forces in the early stages of Russo-Ukraine war.

Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, they have participated in nearly every major battle and offensive, including fighting in Kherson before and through the Ukrainian counter-offensive. They have been forward deployed to the Bakhmut region since August of 2022.
