UK Terror Blast Recorded By Security Camera

A security camera captured a terror-related explosion in the UK city of Liverpool on Monday Nov. 15, 2021, which occurred just outside of a women's hospital.

Reports of the incident suggest that a male suspect carrying an improvised explosive device prematurely detonated the IED inside a taxi. The taxi driver survived but was injured. The suspect died in the blast or the ensuing fire.

The investigation is ongoing, and so far, four males in their early 20s have been arrested in connection with the blast. Their identities and the identity of the bomber hasn't been released. The exact target of the blast isn't known, but it is possibly a Remembrance Day event being held near the hospital or the Liverpool Women's Hospital itself. The incident is being officially labeled as a terror attack. The UK has raised their terror threat level to "severe," meaning that follow-on attacks are likely.

Initial reports suggested that the driver exited the vehicle before the explosion and locked the suspect inside, thereby saving others. However, the footage shows that the blast occurred while the driver was still inside the vehicle. The explosive device was suspected to be homemade and was either low yield or didn't function correctly.

Again, the investigating authorities haven't released the names of the bomber or the arrested suspects nor a motive behind the attack, but if one were to create a venn diagram of groups that hate both women and the Commonwealth member states celebrating Remembrance Day, one could probably come to some pretty safe assumptions as to the likely culprits.
