Intel: Russia To Invade Ukraine Late January, Early February 2022

In an interview with Military Times, the head of Ukraine's defense intelligence, Brig. Gen. Kyrylo Budanov, stated that the nearly 100,000 Russian troops amassed on the Ukrainian border are expected to perform a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in late January or early February 2022.

Budanov claimed the multi pronged assault will be preceded with artillery and airstrikes, followed by airborne insertions behind Ukrainian lines as well as amphibious assaults on Odessa and Mariupul. Additionally, he predicted that the Russians will also send ground forces in from neighboring Belarus.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin described Russia's escalations as "troubling behavior" and stated that American “...support for Ukraine sovereignty territorial integrity remains unwavering.”

The US has already delivered patrol boats, Javelin anti-anti tank weapons, and radar systems, but the Ukrainians are asking for additional assistance in the form of air and missile defense systems, mortars and artillery, and economic sanctions against Russia.
