The 59th Brigade Slams Entrenched Russian Armor

Entrenched Russian armor stands no chance against the 59th Brigade. Once the positions are spotted via aerial reconnaissance, the artillery comes in hot and heavy to wreak havoc.

One thing that's been especially perplexing throughout this conflict is Russia's inability to adapt the tactics of their armored vehicles. Already, we've seen them increasing their electronic warfare capabilities to counter the drone threat from Ukrainian forces, and we've also seen them adapting their own techniques to counter the ATGM threat. One thing they haven't even attempted to change up yet is the way they're digging their armor in.

By now, it should be abundantly clear to Russian forces that digging their vehicles in without top-cover is a one way ticket to boomsville from Ukrainian artillery units. Regardless of this fact, we're still seeing these same archaic "dig-in" tactics from Russian armored columns when they're in the defense, and from this video it appears as if they're still doing absolutely nothing to camouflage their vehicles from overhead reconnaissance, which is the bulk of Ukraine's intelligence gathering efforts at the moment.

On top of drones making up a bulk of their recon capabilities, it's also their primary means of adjusting artillery fire. In fact, we've only seen a few instances of traditional FIST teams being utilized by Ukrainian forces in spite of the fact that a bulk of their training comes from American forces who utilize the FIST team almost exclusively for their forward observations operations.

Until the Russians change this tactic, they will continue to lose armor and the crews of that armor in large numbers to off-the-shelf $500 DJI drones.
