Sailor Sucked Into Jet Engine... and Survives

A wild video from Operation Desert Storm, filmed on Feb. 20, 1991, shows a sailor being sucked into the engine of an A-6 Intruder attack jet aboard the carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt.

The most shocking part of the incident is that the sailor, Petty Officer JD Bridges, survived. From the reports, Bridges was sucked in head first, and his goggles and helmet managed to break the blades and cause the engine to burn out before he reached the meat-mincing components. Additionally, Bridges was able to wiggle out of the engine on his own and only suffered a broken collarbone and some bruising.
