Macabre footage shows Ukrainian battlefield medics treating a seriously wounded soldier for large penetrating injuries, possibly gunshot or shrapnel wounds.

The injury site appears to be in the proximal femur, hip area which makes treating the injury especially complicated for the medic as a tourniquet cannot be applied to simply turn off the blood flow. The medical responders are left with applying pressure and packing the wound with gauze in an attempt to help form blood clots.

Based on the visible injuries and the lack of bleeding, it is likely that this man has already lost significant amounts of blood and is well into hypovolemic shock. The medics do what they can to extend his window of survival and load him up for rapid transport to a trauma center.
