Mortar "Cluster" Rounds Used In Bakhmut

Peculiar-looking explosions were recording by a drone during a Ukrainian attack against a Russian fighting position in Bakhmut leading analysts to speculate at the use of a specific type of "cluster" sub munition mortar round.

The footage shows multiple strikes against Russian troops in which small explosive bursts blanket across tens of meters of ground. Open source analyst Ukraine Weapons Tracker believes the signature is indicative of the M971 120mm cargo bomb which scatters 24x M87 explosive AT/AP submunitions. The munitions were developed by Israel.
