Russian Drone Strike Targets Ukrainian Forces

The Russian Ministry of Defense released a video showing a reported drone strike on a "fortified stronghold of Ukrainian nationalists." The Russian MoD did not identify the date or location in which the strike took place.

The Russian release claimed the UAV carried out the strike while flying at an altitude of over 13,000 feet. The Russians would do well to continue these types of strikes as many MANPADS like the Stinger and Igla have a max altitude range of 11,000 feet. Based on what we have seen in Syria and now Ukraine, Russian strike jets rely heavily on unguided "dumb bombs" which have to be delivered at low altitudes, making them susceptible to anti air systems, hence the significant losses of aircraft.
