K-9 Caliber Made A Life Of Service And Needs Your Help

We are asking the community to give our sponsored pup, K-9 Caliber, some love at the American Humane Hero Dog Awards by visiting THIS LINK and voting for him in the Law Enforcement and Detection category.

K-9 Caliber spent eight years working as a dual-purpose patrol/ narcotics K-9 for the Hampton Police Division in Hampton, Virginia. His last four years as one of the leading K-9s for Hampton PD he was partnered with Angie DiPentima, one of the only female K-9 handlers in the area for much of that time.

K-9 Caliber quickly stood out as a phenomenal asset for the Hampton PD not only for his keen sense of smell and apprehension capabilities, but also for his calm, sweet demeanor. In addition to his work on multi-jurisdictional narcotics task forces and regular patrol, where he was responsible for the apprehension of numerous dangerous criminals and locating more than $300,000 worth of illegal narcotics over the course of his career.

K-9 Caliber routinely made visits to the local Boys and Girls Club, local schools, and area events where he quickly became a local celebrity. He loved the attention he would get from everyone, especially the kids. At one specific event K-9 Caliber and his handler Angie made such an impression on two of the young girls and them seeing Angie being a female K-9 handler that it inspired them to both want to be female police K-9 officers.

In January of 2020, K-9 Caliber and his handler retired together from the Hampton PD, and now spend their retirement in a new capacity! They are helping to train and mentor the next generation of K-9 handlers! Vote for K-9 Caliber HERE
