Guided Missile Targets Syrian Troops In Southern Idlib

The accompanying video reportedly shows anti Assad rebels targeting Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops with a Metis-M anti tank guided missile (ATGM) in southern Idlib province, in July 2021. The number of casualties resulting from this incident cannot be confirmed from the footage.

The footage was released by the al-Fatah al-Mubin (Great Conquest) umbrella group, which is composed of three main insurgent forces; Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation, and Jaysh al-Izza.

The 9K115-2 Metis-M (NATO designation: AT-13 Saxhorn-2) is smaller and lighter than most ATGM systems and can be easily carried by three personnel. The wire-guided missile system boasts a range of 2,000 meters and the system can be setup and fired in mere seconds.
