Army Shows Off First-Ever Hypersonic Glide Missile

Published Oct. 22, 2020

The Army and Navy have codeveloped the first-ever operational hypersonic glide missile, and the Army released a video showing off it's launch, flight, and impact on target.

The Army and Navy's Common Hypersonic Glide Body (C-HGB) sets itself apart from existing ballistic missile platforms as they glide downward in an unpredictable, variable trajectory at hypersonic speeds, making them hard to shoot out of the sky, and their speed also makes it less likely the enemy will have time to relocate their targeted assets.

The system will be used for both land and sea-based launch platforms, to include submarines.
