A Texas National Guardsman was arrested after leading police on a chase while he was operating a government fleet vehicle. The soldier was reportedly smuggling an illegal alien for pay and was in possession of a firearm at the time of the arrest.

According to the report, border patrol agents conducting a snap traffic control point saw the SUV suspiciously turning around to avoid the check station and called on local law enforcement to intercept. The Kinney County Sheriff's Department initiated the chase and eventually used a spike strip to immobilize the suspect vehicle. The Texas Guardsman was dragged out of the vehicle by officers and confessed on the spot to trafficking the illegal migrant in exchange for $5,000.
