An airport baggage handler recorded a deadly, failed heist attempt in Santiago, Chile as approximately 12 gunmen stormed the tarmac in armored vehicles attempting to get away with over $30 million as it was being transferred from the plane into armored trucks on Mar. 8, 2023.

According to the reports, a shootout occurred in which two people were killed. One of the assailants was slain and reports differ on if the other killed was a security officer or an aviation worker. The criminals rapidly fled the scene and remain at large.

The money had just arrived at the Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport on a LATAM jet arriving from Miami.
