A Las Vegas officer fatally shot a suspect that had just shot her during a foot chase turned gunfight.

On Sep. 10, 2022, Las Vegas officers conducted a vehicle stop for a traffic infraction. The vehicle was occupied by three males, and the officers instructed them to step out and step to the rear toward the police cruiser. The driver and rear passenger complied, however, the front passenger, Gabriel Charles, fled on foot.

Officer Tierney Tomburo pursued the suspect, but shortly into the chase, Charles turned and fired on the officer, hitting her in the leg. As the officer fell to the ground she fired four shots, at least one of which hit the suspect in the torso, dropping him to the ground.

Tomburo's partner responded quickly, applying a tourniquet to her injured leg. She was then taken to a hospital and treated for her wound.

Charles was also taken to a hospital but later died of his injuries sustained in the incident.
