China's first domestically produced aircraft carrier was spotted east of Taiwan and recorded by local fishermen as it took place in a naval training exercise.

The Type-002 Shandong carrier's deployment was likely a military flex in response to a meeting between Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen and Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy that had just wrapped up.
