Location, Kreminna. The Russian Army continues its bold exploration of the “Failed Mechanized Assault” concept. After milling about a bit, a tank and two BMPs cross the line of departure in column, but their assault is instantly thwarted as the two BMPs are disabled. The tank continues, seemingly unaware, before making a U-turn and retreating towards friendly lines, Ukrainian fire snapping at its heels. The fact that the tank advanced so far before turning about makes me wonder about the state of tactical communications. Russian prisoners captured at the beginning of the war described being loading into vehicles without radios, and I suspect that this deficiency has not been fully corrected. Meanwhile, the BMP crew drag their stricken comrades to cover amongst the trees. The stricken Russian vehicles expire in the usual way, and as their ammo and fuel cook off, they are transformed into Easy-Bake Ovens.
