Apaches Coordinate and Destroy Bridge During Desert Storm

Published Sept. 27, 2021

Footage recorded on the gun camera of an Apache captures the audio and video feeds of a section of AH64s on a mission to destroy a key piece of infrastructure during Operation Desert Storm.

What you're looking at here is some the earliest recorded footage from the Apache Attack Helicopter platform. While its first official combat operations were conducted during Operation Just Cause in Panama, Operation Desert Storm was the first time the AH64 would see major combat operations. In fact, during Operation Desert Storm, the AH64 was integral for the success of the U.S. mission to beat Sadam Hussein's military back into Iraq, and they fired the opening salvo for that operation, destroying part of Iraq's radar network which allowed fixed wing aircraft to rule the skies above the Iraqi Army.

While this footage may not seem remarkable, it is still historic in nature. No editing has been done to the footage, so everything you're seeing is raw, from the gun-tape down to the communications between the pilots who are working towards completing their objective.

Enjoy.
