Four law enforcement officers were killed and another four were wounded while serving an arrest warrant in Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

The slain law enforcement officers were identified as one US Marshal, two correctional officers, and one local policeman.

The suspect was reportedly told to leave the residence and surrender, but instead, opened fire from upstairs with a semiautomatic rifle. He reportedly fired approximately 100 rounds. Police initially suspected another shooter may have been involved, but now are only considering the possibility in the investigation.

The suspected was identified as Terry Clark Hughes Jr., 39 who was being served a warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Hughes was killed at the scene.
