Why Did An Air Force Cop Smash A Window And Rip A Pregnant Woman Out Of A Car?

A video went viral on social media showing part of an incident in which Air Force Security Forces personnel smashed a woman's driver-side window and pulled her from the vehicle at the entrance gate to Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho in late June 2021.

The one-sided video was met with rage from a social media mob that wanted to destroy the Security Forces airman's career for forcefully removing the woman from the vehicle while her children were in the car. However, a base spokesman stated that the Air Force will not be taking action against the service member as he acted within standard procedures of a high-risk traffic stop.

Based on the official accounts, the driver Tatiyana Gonzalez was previously married to a service member at the base, but since the divorce, no longer had valid credentials to enter the base. Gonzalez became hostile toward the airman, Tech Sgt. Ryan Green, for not letting her through. She then aggressively maneuvered her vehicle toward Green and made contact with a barrier. At that point, the responding airmen escalated their posture to that of a high-risk traffic stop. Gonzalez ignored commands and was therefore forcefully removed from the vehicle and detained.

According to an article on Task and Purpose, Gonzalez was charged with violating registration provisions, eluding a peace officer, and endangering a child.
