Footage filmed through a thermal riflescope shows a Ukrainian special operations sniper engaging a Russian squad, and he appears to make several hits.

Thermal riflescopes are an incredible asset on the nighttime battlefield. Unlike analog night vision, thermal optics sense heat signatures and do not rely on any illumination whatsoever, which means they work best on even the darkest nights. Based on the several months of combat footage coming out of Ukraine, it appears that very few, if any, Russian troops are in possession of individual night vision and thermal devices.
