Turkish Intelligence Footage Of Drone Strike On PKK Leader in Iraq

This drone footage, provided by the Turkish Intelligence Organization (Turkish: Millî İstihbarat Teşkilatı or MIT) shows a Bayraktar TB-2 destroying a vehicle. They claim this truck held a prominent PKK leader: Rojda Bilen, aka Biseng Brusk. The Kurdish Worker's Party or PKK is a militant organization which has been conducting insurgent operations against Turkey since 1979, in the interest of Kurdish autonomy.

Although the PKK have been frequently and effectively attacking Turkish forces, this video shows that the Kurds are not having things their own way all the time. The named target of this attack was the leader of all female PKK fighters and handled a large portion of the organization's youth recruitment under the name Biseng Brusk. Therefore, this drone strike represents a large setback for PKK. The incident coincided with a Turkish air offensive on 19 March against at least 27 known PKK facilities in Northern Iraq.
