On April 10, 2021 Officers received reports of a victim who fled her husband after he hit her multiple times with a closed fist. The victim ran to a nearby store where police arrived to discuss what had happened.
Shortly after the first encounter with the victim, Officer's responded to the victims residence where the beating happened, but the suspect was no where to be located.
Less than five hours later, Officer's received a second report from the same victim. Officer's respond to the residence once again, and confronted the suspect Faustin Guetigo. Refusing arrest, he is threatened to be tased and still refuses to comply.
After arguing with Guetigo for several minutes, Guetigo swings at the Officer and runs into his residence. The initial Officer on the scene then called for further assistance in an attempt to detain Guetigo.
Officer's gain access to the residence after the victim provided keys to the front door, where Guetigo is now hiding out. As Officer's enter the building, Guetigo approaches them from the basement, armed with a metal pipe.
Refusing to drop the weapon and now charging at the Officer's; shots are taken to stop Guetigo. Guetigo swung the metal pipe, striking one Officer in the head before collapsing.
Guetigo was detained and taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his wounds. The Officer who was struck by the metal pipe recovered fine and is being seen by a specialist.
