Footage reportedly shows a Russian indirect fire mission sending incendiary mortar rounds onto Ukrainian positions. The rounds appear to be of a cluster design, in which an altimeter within the mortar round detects its proximity to the ground, triggering it to burst into smaller burning pieces. The Russians are likely trying to defoliate the heavily wooded area in order to expose Ukrainian fighting positions and limit Ukrainian troops' ease of concealed maneuver.
