Footage out of the Kherson southern port region shows a reported Russian Mi-24 Hind attack helicopter being shot down by Ukrainian forces.

The video starts as the helicopter is already hit and billowing thick black smoke with a visible ball of flames around it. The pilot attempts to keep pace with his wingman, but soon it appears that the tail breaks off and the aircraft plummets to the ground. The chances of survival for the crew are slim.

Kherson is a strategically important port area in Ukraine. However, access through the area is dependent on using bridges. The Ukrainians have reportedly pushed back at least one Russian assault on the bridges, although burnt out Ukrainian vehicles in the area suggest they may have taken significant losses in doing so.
