The Russian government has confirmed the destruction of a school in Makiivka, Ukraine that was housing a large number of mobilized Russian conscripts and battlefield logistics.

Pro-Russian Telegram channels Russian pro-war bloggers are seething today at the confirmation of a series of HIMARS strikes in Makiivka, Ukraine. At least 63 Russian troops were killed in an attack as they berthed in a communal barracks area made from a converted Ukrainian school house that was well within range of Ukrainian HIMARS. According to Russian sources, the military had knowingly put the troops there in harms way by having them berthed close to such a large stockpile of munitions.

For their part, Russia's Ministry of Defense only acknowledged the attack the last paragraph of a brief 528-word daily roundup, more than 36 hours later. The video above was recorded by civilians in the area who were celebrating the beginning of the new year.
