Pro Ukrainian Forces Invade Russia

A pro-Ukrainian group of Russian saboteurs made an incursion into Belgorod, Russian on May 22, 2023, with the inattention of carving out a buffer zone along the Russian-Ukrainian border.

Footage is circulating on social media showing armored vehicles in action, artillery impacts, and witness video clips with audible gunfire and explosions. The Freedom of Russia Legion (FRL) claims to have captured the town of Kozinka and set their sights on Grayvoron.

Live reports are mixed and contradictory. Russia claims to have repelled the incursion and also stated that there have been no evacuations. However, video clips are circulating showing convoys of passenger busses operating in the area, suggesting that a state-sanctioned evacuation is underway.

This is at least the second, but possibly third, major incursion into Russian by the FRL. It's not clear if they actually intend to "liberate" Russian territory from the Russian government, or if this operation is meant to distract and divide Russian troops from hotspots within Ukraine.
