Brutal footage coming out of Mariupol shows a member of either the Azov Battalion or Ukrainian Marines swimming across the river towards Russian forces in an act of surrender while Russian forces torment the man with gunfire.

If true, this video is direct evidence of a war crime being committed by Russian forces. The exact context is unclear as the video appears to have been published by an anonymous Russian source. What you're looking at is a member of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the Azovstal Steel Plant in Mariupol trying to surrender to Russian forces. The man, who can clearly be seen with his hands in the air and wearing nothing but a floatation device, is tormented by gunfire from Russian troops for the duration of his river crossing and the video ends before the man is recovered from the river.

It's unclear if he was eventually executed by the firing Russian soldiers. We will update this post with more information if any becomes available.
