Precision guided munitions, such as GMLRS have proven invaluable to the Ukrainians in shaping fires and in a counterbattery role. Russia began the war with a significant quantitative and qualitative advantage in artillery, but battlefield losses haver permitted Ukraine to achieve a qualitative advantage. Over the past six months, those Russian commanders still willing to voice their concerns have complained about the effectiveness of Ukrainian long range fires, an absence of artillery support, and the ineffectiveness of Russian counter battery fires.
