Gut-wrenching footage shows the moment Sparks, Nevada police shot and killed an armed man in his doorway while the officers were responding to a domestic violence call. The shooting and after-action procedures are controversial, so we uploaded the entire police department press release to present as much of the information that is available.

From the report: On August 22nd, 2022, a woman calls 911 stating that her husband is threatening her with a knife and that her teenage son(s) were still in the household attempting to disarm the father. As the police arrive they hear shouting from the apartment. They rush up the stairs to be met by the father and his son in the doorway. The father is holding a knife, and the son has what appears to be a laceration in the vicinity of his hand.

The officer at the door shouts commands to drop the knife, and within seconds, fires multiple shots, mortally wounding the father. Responding officers clear the apartment and then render futile first aid, although one officer claims he doesn't even know how to check a pulse. Throughout the video, various officers repeatedly express concerns that their body worn cameras are recording, and are eventually ordered to shut them off.
