Officer Stabbed In The Eye Beats Suspect Senseless

Body camera footage released from the Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD), shows a graphic confrontation between a repeat offender and law enforcement officer, that ended in an officer being stabbed in the face and the criminal being knocked unconscious.

On the evening of March 18th, 2022, a patrolling OKCPD officer was flagged down, after witnesses observed 32-year-old Christopher McPheeters throwing "something" at another police cruiser. As shown in the body camera footage, a responding officer exited his cruiser, where a brief confrontation began. Upon their confrontation, McPheeters immediately became hostile with the responding officer and a short foot chase ensued.

Unbeknownst to the pursuing officer, McPheeters was wielding a glass shard in his hand. As the officer closed the distance in an attempt to subdue McPheeters; McPheeters lunged with the glass, striking the officer in the face and eye, several times.

Despite being severely injured, the officer fought for his life to subdue McPheeters.

McPheeters was taken into custody and booked at the Oklahoma County Detention Center on charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and aggravated assault and battery on a police officer.

McPheeters, who had a warrant out for his arrest, had been previously convicted of assault and battery on a police officer. In a later statement released by Oklahoma City Chief of Police, Wade Gourley, stated "Page was seriously injured and nearly lost his eye". Since the incident, the officer has been labeled in stable condition.
