(NSFW) Dollar Store Robbery Leaves Suspect Dead After Shootout With Officers

Published Oct. 13, 2021

On October 7th, 2021, officers from the Rochester Police Department responded to a dollar store, where a manager was being held hostage by an armed robber.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to the Dollar Tree located on 715 W. Main St after an employee who had been hiding in the back called 911. As shown in the body camera footage, two RPD officers entered the store and immediately confronted the robber behind the counter. Officers commanded the suspect to remove his hands from his pockets, however he refused.

Seconds after, the suspect attempted to run down the aisles of the store in a desperate attempt to avoid officers. As they headed down one of the aisles, the suspect presented a firearm hidden within a brown paper bag, further causing an officer involved shooting.

Officers removed the firearm from the suspect and provided medical aid until EMT's arrived on the scene. Despite the live saving treatment from medical personnel, the suspect succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced deceased. The suspect was later identified as Simran Gordon.
