Harry Martin, a United States Marine Corps and Iwo Jima Veteran, re-tells the story of being a light machine gunner during the famous invasion against the Imperial Japanese Army on Iwo Jima.


Harry Martin was an Infantry Machine Gunner during the invasion of Iwo Jima. As part of the front-line invasion of the island, he was seriously wounded when a round from the Imperial Japanese Army struck him in the face, blinding him in one eye. For the next month of the battle there, he refused medical evacuation and continued fighting.
