I Will Defend: Michael Monsoor’s story

In January of 2019, the United States Navy released a commemorative video, reflecting on the heroic actions of Petty Officer Second Class (SEAL) Michael A. Monsoor. On September 29th, 2006, Petty Officer Monsoor made the ultimate sacrifice during a combat operation in Ramadi, Iraq.

As a result of his selfless act, Petty Officer Monsoor was awarded the highest military decoration in 2008, the Medal of Honor. Four days after the initial release of this commemorative video, January 26th 2019, the United States Navy commissioned Zumwalt Class guided missile destroyer in his remembrance, the USS Michael Monsoor (DDG-1001).

During this video, Jock Willink, a former teammate of Michael Monsoor, said it best, "There is no more fitting memorial to him".
