Due to the air defense threat posed by both sides air-to-air engagements have been limited since the first weeks of the war. Similarly, close air support for either side is almost non existent as aircraft would have to fly through incredible risk to assist ground troops in contact. Combat aircraft are likely restricted to flying security sorties within their own air defense zones.
