Azov Battalion Uses Commercial Drones to Harass Russian Forces

Members of the ultra-nationalist far-right Azov Battalion utilize commercial drones to spot for their artillery units and harass Russian forces inside of Staryi Krym.

Politics aside for a moment, this is incredibly accurate artillery fire. Since 2014, we've been saying commercial drones are going to change the face of warfighting. While the technology has advanced for sure since 2014, we haven't seen the use case for commercial drones dramatically evolve just yet. Spotting for artillery and delivering small payloads is about as advanced as drone warfare has gotten so far, and we're probably all better off for that.

I say we're all better off for that because we know in places like Israel and China developments have been made to create drone swarms that can use artificial intelligence to deliver kamikaze-like attacks against large groups of armed individuals.
