Battle in Burma, Myanmar's Chin State Rebels Firefight With Gov Troops

Published May 27, 2021

Video shows a newly stood-up Chin state militia fighting against the Burmese (Myanmar) army in defense of government killing and oppression of civilians.

The footage shows a militant firing an ancient M-16 and being forced to manually extract each round, likely due to a faulty gas system on the rifle. Interestingly, the brand new militiaman shoulders the rifle and aims each time he fires, a basic soldiering concept neither the Iraqi or Afghan armies have been able to comprehend with over 20 years and trillions of dollars in training.

A recent report by the Free Burma Rangers suggests Chin state is a current hotspot for unrest. On May 18, 2021, a nine-year-old boy was killed by a government-emplaced landmine. On May 26, the Burma Army killed five civilians with artillery in Mindat, Chin State. The shelling pushed the villagers from their homes and the government forces then looted the town. On the same day, the Burma Army indiscriminately shot and killed a man riding his motorcycle home from work.

Since the military coup of Myanmar, there has been a significant uptick in government-led violence against non-Buddhist civilians all across the country. Targeted groups include, but are not limited to, Christians and Muslims.
