Striking drone footage of Bakhmut shows the level of destruction the city has faced over the last few months of intense fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces.

Keep in mind while you're watching this video that just two years ago this was a thriving and growing city in Ukraine that had just freed itself from separatist control in 2014. All of the destroyed buildings you are seeing were the entire lives of people who lived there. You're looking at people's homes. You're looking at people's businesses. You're also now looking at what is most likely one of the largest graveyards to date in the Russo-Ukraine war.

Since May of last year, the city has been a key point of contention between Ukrainian and Russian forces. All that remains is what you're looking at in this video that was filmed on May 19, 2023.
