Ukrainian Soldier Wounded In Trench Battle

A Ukrainian infantryman's helmet mounted action camera captures the moment he was wounded by shrapnel during a battle for a trench.

Although it is unclear exactly what happened. A snap can be heard a split second prior to his injury and the cloth door over the end of a nearby bunker balloons out, suggesting that a Russian soldier had fired a grenade projectile into the bunker thinking Ukrainian troops had already entered it.

A piece of fragmentation managed to eject out of the bunker, up the trench line, and into the soldier. The injury appears serious as a significant amount of blood begins pouring down his arm within seconds. He rapidly retreats to the rear of his unit, seeking immediate medical attention by the squad medic.
