Ukrainian Patrol Spots Russian Ambush and Narrowly Escapes

Soldiers from the Ukrainian Armed Forces on a patrol near Donbas spot a Russian ambush off of the side of the road and open fire as they try to egress from the situation.

This is a pretty wild video when you watch it all the way through. What you're looking at is a Ukrainian patrol near Donbas. While they're driving down the road, the team leader spots something suspicious. Upon further inspection, he realizes it's a Russian ambush and he gives the order for his team to open fire on the Russian's position.

As they open fire, the drive of the vehicle starts to egress them from the situation. The Russians however don't return fire until the :59 second mark in the video, at which point the Ukrainian unit has already established some form of fire superiority and gained the upper hand in the gunfight as a result.

I'm not one to armchair quarterback, as I'm pretty sure these guys just egressed to call in artillery on the Russian's position, but I believe they could have very easily advanced on the Russian positions because they had caught them flat-footed.
