Russian Su-34 "Fullback" Fighter Bomber Shot Down Over Chernihiv

Footage out of Ukraine shows the moment a Russian Su-34 "Fullback" was shot down over Chernihiv on Mar. 5, 2022. The plane crashed into a house causing fiery destruction. The pilot reportedly died in the incident, but the onboard technician/copilot was captured by Ukrainian forces.

The Su-34 is a relatively modern combat aircraft, first entering Russian service in 2014. The aircraft's primary role is tactical deployment against ground and naval targets. It is set to eventually replace the Su-24 tactical strike fighter and the Tu-22M long-distance bomber.

As of yesterday, approximately 50 civilians had been killed in Russian strikes and shelling on Chernihiv. Photos and videos showed rubbled buildings and first responders had to call off rescue operations due to the ongoing enemy fires.
