CCTV and body camera footage released by the New York Police Department shows the moments officers 'pitted' two shooting suspects in a dangerous urban area and began exchanging gunfire with the two men.

On November 3rd, 2021, at approximately 4:15 a.m., officers attempted a traffic stop on a potentially stolen vehicle driving recklessly on the Jackie Robinson Parkway, near Jamaica Avenue in the Cypress Hills neighborhood. Due to the nature of the area, officers disengaged the pursuit after the vehicle continued driving recklessly through small neighborhoods.

Nearly twenty-minutes later, a different patrolling NYPD unit observed the same vehicle parked at an intersection nearby. Officers attempted to approach the vehicle but immediately became under-fire from the suspects within the vehicle. As shown in the body camera and CCTV footage, officers engaged in a pursuit with the suspects for a second time, this time pitting the vehicle and disabling it. Reports have indicated that after the vehicle lost control, both officers and the suspects exited their vehicles and exchanged shots.

Both suspects managed to flee the area on foot and at this time it is still unknown whether either men were injured during the intense shootout. No arrests have been made at this time.
