Graphic body camera footage released by the Richland County Sherriff’s Office shows a deputy involved shooting that occurred on March 19th, 2022, that left one suspect deceased after deputies utilized lethal force.

Deputies were initially called to the residence for a domestic dispute around 6 p.m. Upon their arrival, deputies were confronted by Irvin D. Moorer-Charley, who at the time was armed with a sharp, wooden object. As indicated by the body worn camera footage, deputies began commanding Irvin to drop the weapon; however he continued ignoring their commands.

Approximately two minutes into the confrontation, deputies utilized a less lethal taser against Irvin, in an attempt to deescalate the situation. Despite being struck by a taser, Irvin charged one deputy with the sharp object, further provoking a deputy involved shooting.

Irvin was provided on site medical attention, but later succumbed to his injuries.
