Ansar Al-Islam is a military force dedicated to protecting Kurds while establishing and maintaining an Islamic state- in short form, they’re known as the Kurdish version of the Taliban, and their numbers are largely comprised of Jihadists and foreign fighters from other organizations and conflicts, such as Kurds fleeing from Afghanistan and Iraq.
