Recovered footage released by Israeli intelligence services shows the construction of several massive tunnel systems underneath of Gaza. This footage was likely recorded a long time before the current conflict, but it shows perspective and the scope of the underground tunnel network that people in the region call the "Gaza Metro."

The scope of this project definitely tells us a lot about the kind of support Hamas has. First and foremost, there is no way this is less than a billion dollar project, and the mere existence of the tunnel network suggests that several very skilled engineers were involved with the process. I believe in the coming years, this tunnel system is going to be deeply researched, and it may uncover some hard truths about that region of the world.

Of course, there's also the other side of that coin. No one will question anything. The tunnel system will be minimized to being similar to the system built by the Vietcong during the Vietnam War. We'll never hear about it again.
